Firecracker Jazz Band kicks off Rhythm & Brews next week

Rhythm & Brews returns to South Main Street on Thursday, June 18, featuring Firecracker Jazz Band as headliner and Blake Ellege & the Mojo Brothers Blues Band opening the show.

The free outdoor concert series runs every third Thursday from June through October in downtown Hendersonville. The evening features live entertainment, local craft beverages, food trucks and family-friendly activities. Opening act begins at 5 p.m. followed by the headliner at 7:30 p.m.

The Firecracker Jazz Band performs early 20th-century jazz, drawing on the sounds of Dixieland and New Orleans and the traditions of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbecke.

The Mojo Brothers Blues Band is led by recording artist and Grammy member Blake Ellege, a Transylvania County native. The band focuses on high-energy classic blues from the 1950s through 1980s.

Mike’s on Main Street will host a Kids Zone. Adults can enjoy beer, cider and wine from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bold Rock Hard Cider, Guidon Brewing Co., Oklawaha Brewing Co., Dry Falls Brewery, Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards and Flat Rock Cider Co.

Attendees are asked to leave pets and coolers at home. Chairs are permitted on the Wells Fargo side of the event near the Kids Zone. For more information, visit downtownhendersonville.org.
