Henderson County commissioners voted 4-1 to grant a $10 million contract to construct the first six miles of the Ecusta Trail on Wednesday but not before Commissioner Bill Lapsley vigorously objected to the decision by the chief project engineer and the NCDOT to reject the lowest bid for the job. The Friends of the Edneyville Community Center Park, Edneyville Grange members, county commissioners and administrators celebrated the opening of three pickleball court, basketball goals and four-square courts at the Edneyville Community Center on Tuesday morning. The Friends of the park raised $70,000 to support the sports courts additions to the apple country community center. The county Parks & Recreation Department plans to add cornhole in the future.
